Handmade glassmaking is one of the oldest crafts in Syria. The Syrian Phoenicians were famous for it since ancient times, spreading the craft through trade across the Mediterranean.
Syrian artisans invented the method of hand glass blowing using a blowing tube to shape artistic pieces.
Manufacturing Process:
- Heating sand to create a molten glass mass.
- Attaching the mass to the end of the blowing tube.
- Blowing and rotating to form the piece.
- Cooling and smoothing, with added decorations or coloring as needed.
Handmade glass is used to produce cups, decorative bottles, and Arak jugs, making this craft an important part of Syrian artistic heritage.
