Upholstery

An ancient craft passed down from fathers to sons, from grandfathers to grandsons, and from master craftsmen to apprentices.

The wool or cotton is spread out, any clumps are broken up, and any impurities are removed. Then the fluffing process begins with a bamboo stick, followed by beating with a bow and mallet. After that, the fabric is filled with the fluff, whether it is a pillow, quilt, or other item, then sewn and decorated with patterns to secure the fabric.

Handmade upholstery lasts for decades, as the craftsman fluffs the wool again if it becomes matted to renew the quilts and upholstery. It is also healthier than modern mattresses and quilts because it is made of natural wool and cotton and is passed down to children for its value and quality.
