An art form that involves creating artistic shapes by pouring different colored sand into a bottle. It is a type of sidewalk art that has become very popular in Damascus in recent years. The tools are simple: a table, glass containers, fine sand, and drawing pens. It relies mainly on natural desert and mountain sand called “Mazar sand,” which is plant-based sand which requires special treatment. As it is coarse, the craftsman smooths it and then dyes it with specific colors by mixing it with colored powder to produce seven main colors: red, yellow, indigo, light blue, orange, brown, and black). After that, it is sifted because after dyeing it becomes a little rough. The painting is usually done on glass or crystal containers or bottles.
